Freight train driver in critical condition after crash with road train in Kalgoorlie

Two freight train drivers aged in their 70s have been airlifted to Perth after a collision with a road train in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.

Emergency services were called to the Yarri Road crossing, a few kilometres east of the CBD, at about 5:00pm yesterday.

The drivers, both aged 70, were flown to Perth this morning, with one listed as being in a critical condition and the other stable.

The truck driver, aged in his 40s, sustained minor injuries.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau says it will act swiftly if its investigation identifies any immediate risks.(ABC Goldfields: Dinushi Dias)
