WA’s State Secretary of the Australian Workers Union said a move by a mining company operating in the Goldfields to abolish rostered days off could cost thecompany workers.
Norton Gold Fields, which operates the Paddington mine site, near Kalgoorlie-Boulder, told its employees it would scrap its RDO policy due to concerns around efficiency, fatigue and labour costs.
The AWU’s Brad Gandy said he was disappointed in the lack of consultation with workers or the union and, given the current labour market, it could mean workers look elsewhere.
